What’s with the name?
Quicksilver is another term for the element mercury — Earth’s only metal found in liquid form under normal surface conditions.
In mythology, Mercury (Hermes to the Greeks) is the messenger of the gods. Greeks and Romans considered him the bringer of dreams, ideas and eloquence. He is the god of crossroads, commerce, storytelling, quick thinking and magic. Mercury/Hermes plays a pivotal role in helping several classic heroes fulfill their missions. Only his smooth talking could have persuaded Calypso to let Ulysses get on with the Odyssey.
Like all Zeus’s children, the messenger god has his faults. On the day of his birth, he escapes his crib and steals half-brother Apollo’s cattle. However, he also discovers fire and invents the lyre — overall, a pretty good day’s work.
Here at Quicksilver, Mercury is something of a guiding spirit for us. We believe that great ideas, when expressed beautifully, have a touch of the divine about them. They can even make a hero out of you.
So give us a call. We promise not to steal your cattle.
